First Ultimate Ramen Champion Competition @ Iluma

Singaporeans are in for a treat! Six of the best Ramen restaurants from four major cities in Japan will be in Singapore to compete for the title of the ULTIMATE RAMEN CHAMPION 2011 SINGAPORE.
Restaurant Name
1. IROHA from Toyama serving Toyama Black Ramen - Champion Ramen chain in Toyama
2. BARIO from Tokyo serving Bario Ramen - Listed 50 best things to eat in the world by The Guardian UK
3. GANTETSU from Sapporo serving Special Miso Ramen - A strong contender hailing from Japan’s city of Ramen
4. TETSU from Tokyo serving Paitan Tsukeman Ramen - Listed as best Tsukeman Ramen by Tokyo Times
5. IKKOUSHA from Hakata serving Hakata Ajitama Ramen - One of the most celebrated Ramen restaurants of Fukuoka
6. TAISHOKEN from Tokyo serving Mori Soba - One of the most famous Ramen shops in the world

Though I had much better Ramen at Hokkaido, I must say Bario's ramen broth is quite unique, and thus deserved my vote for them :)
I find the noodles too thick for my liking though, tasted like a "thick mee-po" :)

Below are Tetsu Ramen and Special Miso Ramen from GANTETSU(Sapporo)
If you like Shoyu (soy) based ramen, you will like tje Tetsu Ramen.
For the Sapporo special miso ramen, I had better at Hokkaido Sapporo (Ramen Republic)itself :)

The gyoza and Chicken Karaage are from IKKOUSHA(Hakata stall). Quite good.
Yet to try their Ramen yet :)
Maybe the next time since they will be here until next June...
And also to try the rest of the contenders.

Ramen Champion competitions are held annually in all of the major cities in Japan. Organiser of ULTIMATE RAMEN CHAMPION 2011 SINGAPORE, Komars Group brings the best from the different cities in Japan.
From July 2011, Iroha, Bario, Gantetsu, Tetsu, Ikkousha and Taishoken will each have a stall in ILUMA @ BUGIS where they will exhibit and sell their signature Ramens among other Japanese specialties for one year.
There are 4 quarter finals and the ULTIMATE RAMEN CHAMPION 2011 SINGAPORE will be announced at the end of competition. Judging criteria include sales takings and vote counts via SMS, Facebook and onsite voting. The crowned champion will be invited to set-up a restaurant here in Singapore by Q3, 2012.
“Food culture in Singapore is diverse and exciting. With Japanese food being one of the most popular cuisines in Singapore, we are thrilled and honoured to have the participation of the six most renowned Ramen iron chefs from Japan to compete in Singapore’s first Ultimate Ramen Championship,” shared Mr Koki Matsuda, Managing Director.
The competition will bring to Singapore the ramen flavours and recipes from the different regions of Japan, and encourage an exchange of cultures and tastes. Mr Matsuda added: “The event is the perfect platform to gauge the taste palettes and find out the Ramen flavour Singaporeans love."
There is more to ULTIMATE RAMEN CHAMPION 2011 SINGAPORE than just an epicurean treat. Location is fashioned like a Ramen Museum. There will be exhibits on the various types of Ramen and broth from the different regions of Japan, and information that maps its history and tradition. Besides savouring these authentic culminations, patrons will also get to learn more about this Japanese noodle staple that has spread across the globe.
